Method / One
Design the check to find contradictions
A verification method should be equally capable of supporting and rejecting a proposed match. Search for page-specific facts that conflict with the inference instead of collecting only familiar-looking similarities.
When evidence stops, the conclusion stops. Unknown is a complete and responsible status.
Method / Two
Make the boundary visible
Write what the source states, then write any inference on a separate line. Link the full page, note when it was viewed, and say clearly what the source does not establish.
- Direct observation
- Source quality
- Possible inference
- Explicit uncertainty
